UKAS
UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service) is recognised by Government as the national body responsible for assessing and accrediting the competence of organisations in the fields of calibration, testing, inspection and certification of systems, products and personnel.
Accreditation
We are accredited by UKAS to ISO/IEC 17025: 2005 which is the internationally recognised standard for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories. Our “Schedule of Accreditation” details the scope of our UKAS audited measurement capabilities.
Fulfilment of the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 means we meet the technical competence requirements and the management system requirements that are necessary to consistently deliver technically valid calibration results. The management system requirements of ISO/IEC 17025 are written in a language relevant to laboratory operations and meet the principles of ISO 9001: 2000 and are aligned with its pertinent requirements. Separate certification of a laboratory to ISO 9001 is therefore unnecessary for calibration activities.
Certification of a laboratory to ISO 9001: 2000, relates only to the laboratory's quality management systems, not the technical competence of the laboratory.
Certificates
We will issue certificates quoting measured results for every calibration we perform. Unlike some other laboratories we do not charge extra for these certificates.
Where our UKAS schedule of accreditation permits, we will issue UKAS certificates. These certificates will bear the UKAS logo depicting the Royal Crown as shown on this page.
When we perform calibration work, which is not covered by our UKAS schedule of accreditation, we will issue traceable certificates. The presentation and format of these certificates will be similar to our UKAS certificates but they will not bear the UKAS logo. The quoted measured results are however still traceable via an unbroken chain of calibrations to national or international standards.
Statements of compliance (pass/fail statements) unless otherwise stated, relate only to the measured quantities detailed on the calibration certificate. They do not carry any implication as to the long term stability of an instrument or its potential use.
